Counselling and Psychotherapy
I maintain a private practice at Hiseler, Kelly & Associates in Peterborough, Ontario, where I provide individual, couples, and family counselling and psychotherapy. The practice has a reputation for specializing in first responder, military personnel, and correctional officers, but we see folks from all walks of life with a very diverse range of therapeutic needs and goals. I am particularly passionate about supporting adult survivors of adverse childhood experiences, psychological trauma, first responders and other helping professionals, grief and loss, stress management, parenting, and couples counselling.
My clinical practice is rooted in a strong foundation of trauma-informed practice and anti-oppression, having led organizational change initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion. I am committed to providing a positive and affirming space for clients to bring their whole self, and approaches each individual with compassion, curiosity and humility. I welcome individuals from any background or identity and would be honoured to walk alongside you in your therapeutic journey.
Above all, my practice is driven by relationships and connection, remaining person-centered and respecting your right to self-determination. I believe in resilience, healing, and recovery and support these goals through strength-based and solution-focused strategies, and a feminist informed eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, cognitive processing therapy, emotionally focused therapy, family systems therapy, and narrative therapy, among others.
